"The site is an online store, but our ultimate goal is about product awareness and educating consumers about the importance of wearing sunscreen", said David M. Crisp, Jr., President & Founder of the company. "I developed skin cancer six years ago, at age 35, and this product is the culmination of years of learning about this disease, exploring preventative and treatment options, and developing a superior product. We want to arm the consumer with accurate information, then offer protection with peace of mind. Our site is about full disclosure."

SolarAegis is an all-natural product utilizing mineral and plant derived ingredients. It is a broad spectrum (UVA/UVB) SPF 30 lotion that is formulated in a powder base. It goes on clear and disappears quickly making it functional protection for a multitude of outdoor activities.

"Many active ingredients currently used in sunscreen products are known in scientific circles to cause skin damage at the cellular level, just like the sun does. People don't know that some of the products they apply to their skin can be just as damaging as the rays they are trying to avoid. It was important to create a product without the chemical UV filters known to damage skin cells and disrupt the natural hormonal balance in the body. We also avoided another questionable trend of the big name products by foregoing the use of nano-particles in our formulation", says Crisp.

Crisp spent 20 years as an executive in the chemical industry, prior to establishing SolarAegis in mid-2009, after being laid off from his VP position at a CleanTech company. "Every aspect of SolarAegis is about growth and evolution", said Crisp. "It's about raising the bar. We want better awareness, better products and better health. SolarAegis wants to offer products that other personal care companies will strive to achieve in their lines."

The website contains facts on skin cancer, discusses commonly used chemical UV filters found in most of the big name sunscreens and includes a detailed listing of the alternative plant and mineral ingredients used in the SolarAegis formulation. Crisp added, "We want the site to be consumer interactive. It's a place to learn and discuss. The site will mature and evolve as consumer awareness increases. Our company and products will transform through direct interaction with our customers." The company plans to begin adding to their product line in early 2010 with the introduction of an all-natural children's product called Baby Elephant.
